Dining review: Cultura, Wicked Weed Brewing’s latest venture

Wicked Weed Brewing’s continuous forward momentum has brought to the region another new venture: Cultura.

Cultura, located next to Wicked Weed’s Funkatorium, is the brewery’s first foray into fine dining. This is not an antiquated, white-tablecloth venue, though the dining room strongly suggests a more-refined experience than the pub. The dark-stained paneled walls and hanging globe lights evoke Old World appeal while remaining modern.

The menu has three sections. First is the Bacchanal, offering either pre-set family style or chef’s tasting menus. You’ll need four people to be able to order family style, with prices ranging from $65-$100 for that section. The remaining menu sections include “small plates” and “feasts.”

After you order, you’ll receive an amuse bouche. The small bowl was beautifully presented, a dollop of a savory custard garnished with nasturtium, straw-sized beans and herb fronds. It was a two- to three-bite dish, but those few bites were a bit cumbersome since we were not given spoons. It’s a unique challenge to eat custard with a fork in a tiny bowl.
